Figure 2. Activation of pp60c-src kinase. The inactive form of pp60c-src kinase is phosphorylated at Tyr527, promoting interaction between the carboxyl-terminal tail and the SH2 domain. De-phosphorylation of Tyr527 results in structural rearrangement and activation of kinase activity. Because Tyr527 is deleted in v-src, pp60v-src is constitutively active (fig002cso).
